Approximating physical problems in Computational Mechanics: Linearization, discretization (finite differences and volumes, mostly on structured grids), numerical solution. Basic iterative solution methods, error, residual, convergence criteria. Exact and approximate factorization, the MSIP method. Krylov subspace methods, the GMES method. Preconditioning. Multigrid. Parallelization. Computational homework.
