Call for Applications for Postgraduate Studies for the academic year 2025-2026
Organization
The Schools of Chemical Engineering (coordinating), Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences of the National Technical University of Athens offer the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program MSc “Computational Mechanics” and call for applicants to express their interest in participating at the MSc Program in the academic year 2025-2026.
The MSc Program “Computational Mechanics” has been included in the internationalization project of NTUA postgraduate studies. Internationalization relates to the project “Support of internationalization actions of the postgraduate studies of the National Technical University of Athens” (MIS 6004804), co-financed by Greece and the European Union through the Operational Program “Human Resources and Social Cohesion”. Internationalization aims to attract international students, and to promote the research and educational activities of NTUA. In this context, the language of instruction is English.
Program aim and objectives
The MSc program provides high-level postgraduate studies in the development and use of computational methods leading to the effective and detailed modelling and simulation of natural phenomena and engineering processes and systems design, aiming at the solution of challenging scientific and technical problems. The program provides extensive knowledge that enhances and complements the knowledge of engineers of various specialisations, as well as other scientists who are interested in computing. Thus, the understanding and assimilation of Computational Engineering of Fluids and Solids and its applications in the various branches of industry are supported. The overall aim is to prepare the student for either industrial employment or further research, with an internationally competitive specialization.
Program structure
The program, with a minimum duration of three (3) academic semesters for completion and maximum study period of four (4) semesters, leads to the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies – Master of Science, and is equivalent to 90 ECTS. The study program includes core and elective courses, with computational or laboratory classes, the attendance of which is obligatory. The MSc is awarded after the successful attendance and examination of 9 obligatory and elective courses in the first two semesters and the elaboration and successful presentation of a Postgraduate Diploma Thesis in the third semester. Computational Mechanics of Fluids and Solids are covered in a unified framework and the distinct directions offered by the elective courses are in Processes, Constructions, Materials, and Environment-Energy.
Eligibility
Graduates from the National Technical University of Athens and from other Engineering Schools/Universities, as well as graduates from related subjects, are eligible for attendance in the program. The program is open to graduates of Greek Universities or equivalent foreign universities recognized by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center – NARIC (DOATAP). Students graduating in September 2025 are also eligible.
Applications from international students are welcome. Non-EU students must pay tuition fees of 500 Euros per studies semester.
A maximum of forty (40) students will be enrolled in the MSc program, upon selection, provided that they meet all the necessary admission requirements. In the selection criteria of postgraduate students.
